It's to your advantage

Sellers of homes can benefit by having their home inspected prior to placing it on the real estate market. A home inspection provides the seller with useful information regarding the condition of their home and provides an opportunity to make repairs and improvements that will help the sale go smother, faster and maximize their selling price.

Several states now require that sellers reveal all known defects in their homes. Other states are expected to follow suit. In states without disclosure laws, courts have ruled against sellers who knowingly concealed defects.

If you have a warranty on the home you are currently living in, it would be wise to have it inspected by a professional before the warranty expires so that any needed repairs can be made.
